About Me

I live with my husband and three children near Seattle in the foothills of the Cascade Mountains. After working for several years in the medical field as a family practice physician assistant, I stepped away from my career to be a stay-at-home mom.
While home with small children, I started writing about parenting and family life as a creative outlet. I quickly discovered that finding and sharing the humor in everyday suburban life can be a great stress reliever.
I enjoy speaking to groups, especially parenting and writing organizations. My critique group, the Seattle Scribblers, spoke on a panel at the 2015 Pacific Northwest Writers Conference, and I have also given talks at local meetings of MOPS International on various parenting topics. If you would like to discuss having me as a guest speaker for your group or organization, please contact me.
The Pacific Northwest Writers Association, a great organization of which I am a member, holds an annual literary contest. I have been a both a finalist and a winner in various categories of this contest. I have also served as a judge for the PNWA Literary Contest for several years.
My love of the written word extends to editing. I love to take on freelance editing projects, especially for small business owners. If you are in need of editing, feel free to contact me to discuss my rates.
Although I mainly write essays and articles, I've also delved into fiction. I've written three picture books, one of which, Loud Lani, won second place in the Pacific Northwest Writers Association Literary Contest in 2010. I've also written a middle-grade novel called Adeline's Mirror, a ghost story set in Seattle’s Queen Anne neighborhood. Adeline's Mirror was a finalist in the 2012 Pacific Northwest Writers Association Literary Contest.
